MEET YOUR BIOMECHANICAL ARCHITECT
Where Analytical Thinking, Athletic Experience & Restorative Expertise Converge
Movement is more than a collection of individual muscles and joints. It is an interconnected system of forces, coordination, adaptation, and control. My approach to corrective exercise and biomechanical restoration has been shaped by an uncommon combination of analytical education, competitive athletic experience, military leadership, and more than a decade of professional massage and bodywork practice. I founded Valence Bodywork Collection and developed the Tri-Phasic Neuro-Mechanical System™ to bring these perspectives together within a purposeful, individualized approach to movement restoration. Rather than viewing physical limitations through a single discipline, I consider the relationships between movement mechanics, muscular function, neuromuscular coordination, and the demands placed upon the body. My objective is to help clients understand and develop their physical capabilities through thoughtful assessment, corrective exercise, and specialized therapeutic intervention when appropriate.
The Engineering Mindset
My academic studies in mechanical engineering principles has influenced how I observe and approach human movement. Concepts such as force distribution, leverage, alignment, and structural relationships inform my analytical perspective, encouraging me to consider how movement in one region may influence the demands placed upon another. I approach each client with curiosity, careful observation, and a commitment to understanding the functional relationships relevant to their individual presentation.
The Athlete's Perspective
My understanding of movement extends beyond professional education. As a competitive athlete in track and basketball, and a former roller derby competitor and multi-year MVP, I have experienced the physical demands of high-intensity sport firsthand. I have also navigated injury, rehabilitation, and the challenges of returning to physical activity. These experiences shaped my appreciation for the relationship between movement quality, physical preparation, progressive training, and recovery. They also reinforced an important principle: improving physical capability requires more than temporary relief. It requires the development of strength, coordination, control, and confidence through purposeful practice.
The Discipline of Leadership
My background in military leadership has influenced the structure and professional standards of Valence Bodywork Collection. I value preparation, accountability, thoughtful decision-making, and clearly defined objectives. Combined with more than a decade of professional experience in massage and bodywork—including pain-management-focused private practice—these principles inform how I assess, develop, and guide individualized restorative programs. My professional practice integrates corrective exercise, personal training, and specialized manual therapy within a coordinated approach that places active client participation at its foundation.
The Philosophy Behind Valence
I believe effective restorative work begins with understanding the individual—not simply identifying an area of discomfort. Every client brings a different physical history, movement profile, lifestyle, and set of goals. These differences deserve thoughtful consideration. At Valence Bodywork Collection, my role is to provide the professional assessment, strategy, instruction, and appropriate interventions that support your progress. Your role is equally important: to participate in the process of developing and reinforcing the physical capabilities you want to improve.
The objective is not simply to provide treatment, but to help you build greater command of how your body moves and functions.
